Installation — Android
SwiftDrop for Android supports phones and tablets running Android 8.0 (Oreo) or newer.
From Google Play
- Open the Google Play Store on your device.
- Search for SwiftDrop by Zashiron.
- Tap Install.
- Open the app and follow the setup wizard.
From APK (sideload)
- Visit the download page on your device browser.
- Download the latest
SwiftDrop-vX.X.X.apk. - Open your Files app and tap the APK to install.
- If prompted, enable Install from unknown sources for your browser app.
First-time setup
- Accept permissions — SwiftDrop needs local network access to discover nearby devices. Wi-Fi and nearby device permissions are required.
- Sign in with your Zashiron account, or create a free account.
- Name your device — go to Settings → Device Name and give your phone a recognisable name (e.g. "Sam's Pixel").
- SwiftDrop will immediately start scanning for other SwiftDrop devices on the same Wi-Fi network.
Sharing files via Share Sheet
On Android you can send any file to a SwiftDrop device directly from your Files app or any app with a Share button:
- Long-press a file → tap Share.
- Select SwiftDrop from the share sheet.
- Choose a nearby device from the SwiftDrop picker.
- Transfer begins immediately.
Tip: For large files (videos, archives), ensure both devices stay on the same network and keep their screens on during the transfer.
