API Key Setup

Your organisation's API key authenticates SwiftDrop app devices with Zashiron's backend. Every device in your org uses the same key.

Finding your API key

1. Sign in to your Zashiron account.
2. Go to Dashboard → Settings.
3. Your API key is listed under Organisation API Key. Click the eye icon to reveal it.

Entering the API key in the app

Android:

1. Open SwiftDrop → Settings → Account.
2. Tap API Key.
3. Paste your key and tap Save.

Desktop:

1. Open the SwiftDrop tray menu → Settings.
2. Click Account → API Key.
3. Paste your key and click Save.

The app verifies the key and connects to your organisation. The device appears in Dashboard → Devices within 30 seconds.

Rotating your API key

Rotate your key if:

• You suspect it has been leaked or shared outside your organisation.
• A member with key access has left the organisation.

To rotate:

1. Go to Dashboard → Settings → Organisation API Key.
2. Click Rotate Key.
3. Confirm the rotation — all devices using the old key are immediately signed out.
4. Distribute the new key to all devices.

Warning: All devices must be updated with the new key before they can transfer files again.

Free plan note

On the Free plan, SwiftDrop can be used without an API key for basic LAN transfers between two personally-signed-in devices. An API key is required for Relay Mode, org-level device management, and Office Space nodes.
