Quick Start Guide
Get your first file transferred in under 2 minutes.
Step 1 — Install on both devices
Install SwiftDrop on both the sending and receiving device:
Step 2 — Connect to the same network
Both devices must be on the same Wi-Fi network. Ethernet and Wi-Fi on the same router work fine. Mobile data does not work for LAN transfers — use Relay Mode for cross-network transfers.
Step 3 — Find each other
Open SwiftDrop on both devices. Within a few seconds each device should appear in the Nearby tab. If you don't see the other device:
- Make sure both devices are on the same Wi-Fi network
- Check that your router does not have client isolation enabled
- Check that firewall rules allow UDP/TCP on ports 47823 and 47824
Step 4 — Send a file
From Android:
- Tap the recipient device in the Nearby tab.
- Tap the + button to browse for a file, or use the Share Sheet.
- The recipient sees an accept prompt — once accepted, the transfer begins.
From Desktop:
- Right-click the tray icon → Quick Send, or open the main window.
- Click the recipient device.
- Drag and drop files onto the transfer area, or click to browse.
- Transfer begins immediately.
Step 5 — Find your received files
- Android:
Internal Storage/SwiftDrop/Received/ - Windows:
Documents\SwiftDrop\Received\ - macOS / Linux:
~/SwiftDrop/Received/
You can change the save folder in Settings → Storage.
